This year the biggest event in Football is coming to Johannesburg and South Africa will return to the venue, where they achieved their first major success in 1996, four years after their readmission to international football when they shot to prominence and stunned the African continent by claiming their CAF Africa Cup of Nations trophy against Tunisia in the finals.
South Africa seems determined to add a new chapter to their football history, their performance at the FIFA Confederations Cup last June should remind us that South Africa is a team whose potential when stretched to the limits cannot be underestimated.
This is the third participation of South Africa in the FIFA World Cup. The Bafana Bafana debuted in France 1998 and also they were present at Korea/Japan 2002.
In this World Cup they being the host nation have received automatic qualification. Nine South African cities are prepared to set the stage for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2010.
They are:-
1. Johannesburg – The economic pivot of South Africa.
2. Kapstadt – The cape city of South Africa resting besides the bay at Atlantic Ocean, it is the southern part of the province west cape. Cape city has picturesque buildings, the long sand beaches it is called as South Africa most popular destination.
3. Durban – The largest city.
4. Pretoria – Pretoria is the capital of South Africa and lies north of Johannesburg. City proudly holds the some 150 years mighty monuments.
5. Port Elizabeth – Also called as “Friendly city”, it lies at the Nelson Mandela bay.
6. Bloemfontein – A beautiful city with thousands of rosebushes and some monuments.
7. Rustenburg – It is one of the largest mining regions of the world, with an abundance of platinum occurrence under the earth.
8. Nelspruit – It lies some 330 km east of Johannesburg.

Real Madrid and the Spanish League:   Leave a comment

fifa.com

Real Madrid was again put to two points of Barcelona after their victory over Villarreal (6-2), coming from Kaká, Gonzalo Higuaín and Xabi Alonso after Christiano Ronaldo opened the score board with a spectacular free kick in the 18th minute which he dedicated to the victims of the disaster that had struck his home island of Madeira.
This was a much needed win as far as the coach was concerned after their loss to Lyon in a 1-0 defeat. The win seemed to have eased some of the pressure on Manuel Pellegrini.
The first half ended with the Bernabeu Stadium filled with the cheering and shout of the Madrid fans as they went into a 3-1 lead.
Though Villarreal pulled a goal back against the run of play in the 67th minute making it 3-2, all their hopes and possiblities turned bleak when Madrid made it 4-2 three minutes later through Higuain.
Ronaldo, almost inevitably, also created the fifth and sixth Madrid goals which was materialized by Kaka in the 79th minute and sealed by Xabi Alonso with a spectacular penalty in the 87th minute.

SMOOTHING Time!   2 comments

Hello mes amis!
I have decided to include this section of healthy fruit smoothies here on soccerultimate as i have seen many a footballers opting to use unhealthy sports drinks that provide instant results but in the long run, they prove to be useless or even harmful.
To get you started with just think:
When back from a hard days workout, whats more enjoyable than having a thirst quenching smoothie.Unlike  many unhealthy sports drinks, they not only revive you of your lost energy but also supply you with the necessary nutrition needed for your bodies conditioning.
Plus, you’ll save lots  of money  by making  smoothies  instead  of buying  expensive  protein bars, which usually have lots of additives and usually taste like chalk.
For most of the recipe, all u need is a blender.
Here are some easy to make smoothies that I have learnt. Thanks to Mr Ryan Lee and his Books.

In favour dont forget to return a feedback of what you think about the recipe.
Hope  you  enjoy  them  as much as I do !
